Alce Nero Fairtrade Organic Green Tea, 20 Pieces

Alce Nero green tea (Camellia Saneness is the plant of origin) is a blend of selected green teas characterized by a light flavour, pleasant aroma and golden colour. Alce Nero organic green tea is a refined selection of green teas from the Nilgiri plantations in southern India which preserves all the aroma and typical flavour of the plantation.

Camellia Saneness, the plant from which the tea originates, is an evergreen shrub which is harvested for the first time in its third year. Young leaves are picked by hand, for the finest harvest. Green teas are also known as "unfermented teas" as the leaves do not undergo fermentation, rather they are treated with steam and dried by means of hot air currents. In this way the enzymes which cause fermentation are not activated, the tannin is not oxidized and the tender leaves maintain their green colour.

It is recommended that green tea is infused for 2-3 minutes, but it is good to know that theine has beneficial qualities which can be measured out through careful preparation. Water temperature must not exceed 80°C (therefore it is advisable to leave it to rest a few moments after boiling and never pour it directly over the teabag).
